The Apple Is Also Good is a collection of musings on the six-year Parisian life of the Northeastern female writer and post-'90s doctoral student in history, Luan Yingxin. Inspired by seeing apples labeled as 'flawed' during her travels, the author began to contemplate life and freedom, which led to the writing of this book. The book is composed of adorable, brief chapters. Luan Yingxin, with a light-hearted tone and a warm perspective, paints a picture of the Paris she dwells in, enumerating the gains she has made in this city of freedom. In this book, she discusses not only a city but also Why I am in Paris, My Student Life in Paris, and beyond that, Reflecting on the Past from Paris, Where I Will Go from Paris. Paris is literary, but it is also about living; everyone has a different Paris in their hearts. Beyond academia, Yingxin prefers to observe gently and record life sincerely. To her, Paris is a gentle sea that supports her, allowing her to float freely, to be a 'free-spirited apple.'
