Good Boy, Good
Good Boy, Good is a book by playwright Wan Fang dedicated to all dog lovers. It tells the story of the author's sixteen years with her beloved dog, Guai Guai, highlighting the mutual companionship and 'two-way' rescue between humans and animals. In 2003, Wan Fang was plunged into confusion and endless pain due to her husband's terminal illness. She struggled with the decision to keep her husband's condition a secret and grappled with how to face his impending death.
On a friend's suggestion, she adopted a puppy named Guai Guai. This not only changed her life but also marked the beginning of a special bond. Guai Guai's companionship helped her gradually emerge from the shadow of her husband's death by feeling 'needed' and 'trusted,' restoring her hope in life. Years later, as Guai Guai's life also neared its end, the themes of life and death resurfaced for Wan Fang. This time, she developed a new interpretation and acceptance of death.
