Any Job Can Knock Me Down

Zhang Sai, born in the 1980s, finished junior high school and has spent the years since moving between factories and all kinds of odd jobs. He cannot bear the way the system alienates people, yet after every escape he sinks into deeper confusion. Forever an outsider in each job, he looks on coolly at everything around him and, in self-mocking, clear-eyed prose, records his real tug-of-war between "not wanting to admit defeat" and "hiding away for a while first", asking what going to work, and work itself, really mean.

It is a first-hand record by a worker at the bottom of the ladder, and a mirror held up to the spiritual predicament of people today.
